IPONZ
CASE STUDIES

The Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) case studies celebrates and educates around the power of innovation and IP in New Zealand. We explored stories of innovators who have made a difference through their unique approaches to IP.
I worked for Tantrum Productions as the video editor, an interview camera operator, and the on-set assistant for these IPONZ case studies.

PERFORMER
SHOW REELS

I was proud to showcase the amazing work from Spark & Flare, a bespoke circus entertainment company in New Zealand. I also oversaw a media team, as their lead.

I captured and edited some incredible performances, including stilt walkers, angle grinder, street shows, and roving characters. As media lead, I was responsible for a team of videographers and photographers that captured the performances, atmosphere, and fulfilled the shoot brief for multiple stakeholders.

INFRASTRUCTURE
PROJECTS

Multiple water infrastructure projects with Ngāti Toa, Wellington Water, Brian Perry Civil, Wellington City Council, and Porirua City Council. Working closely with local iwi, the projects ensured that cultural and environmental values were respected and integrated.

I contributed to the documentation of these vital projects at Tantrum Productions, assisting with capturing the progress and development from start to finish.

These project involved a range of skills and techniques, including interviews, timelapses (short, medium and long term), drone videography, general videography, as well as editing to produce final products. Adapting to, and utilising, different techniques allowed me to create a comprehensive visual narrative that showcases the full scope and impact of these infrastructure projects.

I’m proud to have played a part in documenting these essential projects for the community. I’ve been able to showcase the expertise, professionalism, and dedication of the organisations involved, as they continue to improve the water supply and infrastructure for the people of Wellington.

COMMUNITY & EVENTS

I have captured the highlights and energy of a wide range of events, from cultural festivals and fundraisers, to corporate dinners and sports.

Whether it’s the excitement of a crowd cheering, the beauty of a cultural performance, or heartfelt speeches, I aim to capture the compelling and authentic essence of the event.

My approach to event videography is to be as unobtrusive as possible, allowing the natural flow and atmosphere of the event to unfold.

I utilise a combination of equipment and techniques to capture the action and emotions from various perspectives including drone, handheld and stabiliser-mounted cameras, and my electric unicycle! Through my editing and post-production, I am able to create a final product that brings the event to life.

My experience in event videography has given me a deep appreciation for the diverse and vibrant communities that make up our society. I take pride in my ability to capture the essence of each event, creating a lasting record of people, places, and experiences.

Empowering Knowledge through Engaging Visuals

EDUCATION

Men’s hair systems have emerged as more than just a solution to hair loss – they’re a gateway to renewed confidence.

Taking the helm of this transformative course, I immersed myself in a solo capacity as the Director of Photography, Camera Operator, and Editor for the entire 14-part course for the renowned hairstylist, Arthur Andrew.

Every segment was crafted to ensure that viewers not only grasp the techniques, but also appreciate the artistry and finesse of Arthur’s profession.

These video modules represent a synthesis of expert knowledge and high-definition videography.
In fast-paced realm of social media, content should not only inform, but also captivate. With this principle at heart, I worked for the talented hairstylist and colourist, Andy Alsop.

From tutorials and product showcases, to client transformations. Videos were quick to engage, rich in value, and impeccably edited to retain viewer attention. We presented hairstyling as not just a craft, but an art deserving its spotlight on the digital stage.

With dynamic framing, crisp visuals, and a storytelling rhythm tailored for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, our content has been instrumental in extending Andy’s brand presence and engaging his growing audience.
